Table of Contents

Important Dates

Application Deadline: March 1st, 2024

Anticipated Notice of Decision: Early April 2024

Description

In June 2024, the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health (IGH) will host in Vancouver, British Columbia, a Summer Institute in Sex and Gender+ Science for trainees (graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) at Canadian Institutions. To enable trainees to participate in the 2024 Summer Institute, IGH will provide travel awards for up to 30 trainees.

The theme for the 2024 IGH Summer Institute will be methods and measures in sex and gender+ science in health research. The intensive capacity-building formal program will take place over five days, with time allocated for networking with other Summer Institute participants. In addition to providing advanced inter-disciplinary training to trainees from across Canada, the 2024 IGH Summer Institute will also offer an opportunity to have exposure to, learn from, and network with leaders in sex, gender+, and health research.

The overarching goal of the 2024 IGH Summer Institute is to convene trainees with early-, mid-, and senior-career researchers, and community partners to build research capacity and excellence in sex, gender+, and health research across the four pillars of health sciences research.

The 2024 IGH Summer Institute will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia over five days from June 9th to June 14th, 2024 on the University of British Columbia campus. Trainees are required to attend all sessions. A detailed agenda will be provided to participants prior to the Summer Institute.

Note: The “+” in gender+ acknowledges that both sex and gender intersect with other factors, including income, social status and supports, Indigeneity, race and racism, sexual orientation, ability, location, and other social identities and positions to profoundly shape our health and well-being.
