Frequently Asked Questions
Team Grants: Intervention Trial in Inflammation for Chronic Conditions – Evidence to Impact

Please reach out to the CIHR Contact Centre at support-soutien@cihr-irsc.gc.ca with any questions.

  • 1. Can a Knowledge Mobilization Hub (KM Hub) application be submitted at the Full Application stage without having submitted an Expression of Interest?

Yes. The KM Hub Expression of Interest was an optional step that helped to inform the Strengthening Workshop agenda. As such, a KM Hub application can be submitted at the Full Application stage without having previously submitted an Expression of Interest. Please refer to the KM Hub Eligibility criteria in the funding opportunity.

  • 2. The KM Hub application needs to be related to a Research Team Full Application. Does the Nominated Principal Applicant (NPA) have to be the same?

No, it does not need to be the same person. The NPA of the KM Hub must be a team member of at least one Research Team application. If, however, the NPA of the KM Hub is also an NPA of a Research Team, this individual will need to submit two full applications – one for the KM Hub and one for the Research Team grant. Please refer to the Eligibility criteria in the funding opportunity for further details.

  • 3. Can a KM Hub application leverage existing networks or groups, or does it have to be a completely new entity?

The KM Hub proposal can leverage existing groups and networks, OR it can propose the creation of a new hub.

  • 4. If a team applies for the KM Hub grant, does this give them an advantage for their Research Team application?

No, the KM Hub application and the Research Team application are evaluated separately and will result in two separate scores. The KM Hub that will be funded must be the highest ranked KM Hub application which also receives a Research Team grant.

  • 5. Randomized Clinical Trials (RCT) typically require submission of an RCT form with the research proposal. Is this RCT form required for this competition?

No, but RCT methods can be added to the Research Proposal Appendix section. Please see the Team Grants/Emerging Team Grants – ResearchNet "Application" Phase Instructions for more information on requirements if your proposal contains an RCT.

  • 6. On ResearchNet, will any information from the LOI stage be transferred to the Full Application proposal, or will the applicant have to populate everything again at the Full Application stage?

No information will be transferred from the LOI stage to the Full Application stage.

  • 7. At the full application stage, will the applicants have the opportunity to respond to previous reviewers' comments from the LOI stage?

Yes, please see the How to Apply section for more information.
