Message from the President: IHSPR Scientific Director Renewal

It is with great pleasure that I, along with the CIHR Governing Council, announce the renewal of the term of Dr. Robyn Tamblyn as Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (CIHR-IHSPR).

Since joining CIHR in 2011, Dr. Tamblyn has been a champion for patient- and population-centred care and for investing in innovative health technologies. To this end, the Institute developed the eHealth Initiative, which is establishing unique partnerships between researchers, industry, clinicians and patients to create novel approaches to health care delivery. Under her leadership, IHSPR has also been working with provincial health research funding organizations and many of Canada’s health charities to develop the first-ever pan-Canadian vision and strategy for health services and policy research.

During Dr. Tamblyn’s first term, IHSPR established Rising Star Awards for graduate and post-doctoral students to recognize the research excellence of emerging health services and policy researchers, underscoring her dedication to training the next generation. Notably, Dr. Tamblyn has also played a key role in the development of several CIHR Signature Initiatives, serving as co-lead of the Community-Based Primary Health Care and Evidence-Informed Healthcare Renewal initiatives. Furthermore, she was named a Member of the Order or Canada in 2014.

Dr. Tamblyn's second term will end in December 2018. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Tamblyn and in wishing IHSPR continued success.

Sincerely,

Alain Beaudet, MD, PhD
President
