Message from Dr. Alain Beaudet, CIHR President: Results of the inaugural Foundation Grants competition and Transitional OOGP competition
(2015-07-15) On behalf of CIHR, I would like to congratulate the recipients of the 2014 Foundation Grants live pilot competition and the 2014-2015 Transitional Open Operating Grants Program competition.
The quality and excellence of the recipients of the inaugural Foundation Grants, including exceptional young researchers, and the breadth of the health research projects funded under the final Open Operating Grants Program competition, reflect our vibrant, talented and world-class health research community.
The results of the inaugural Foundation Grants competition – and the new Project Grants competition that will soon follow – mark a significant change in how Canada will support the work of its health research community. The new Foundation and Project Grants Programs will ensure that CIHR continues to maintain support for world-class health researchers and trainees, and their pursuit of innovative ideas and approaches in all areas of health research and knowledge translation.
I want to thank Canada’s health research community for their continued patience, support and feedback through this multi-year transition process, and also for their unwavering dedication and passion to making a difference in the lives of Canadians.
On behalf of CIHR, I extend my best wishes for success to all those across the health research system who continue to strive for and to deliver excellence for Canada.
Alain Beaudet, MD, PhD
